District Governor Lion Greg Wehby (2018-2019) Lion Greg Wehby is a proud member of the Thornapple Valley Lions Club that serves the primary service areas of Ada and Cascade. As a member of the Lions club, Greg served on the board of directors, club vice- president, and club president.  At the district level, Greg served a term as a zone chairperson and a three year term as the Leader Dog Chair. Prior to moving to West Michigan, Greg spent the bulk of his life in Southeast Michigan. Greg received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy.  As a registered respiratory therapist, he worked for over thirty years primarily in a variety of intensive care units serving newborns, children, and adults who were unable to breathe on their own. In addition to saving numerous lives throughout his career, he also was a department manager and educator. Twenty years ago, a detached retina caused Greg to lose vision in one eye as a complication of having congenital Rubella or German measles. In 2010, Greg experienced a second retinal detachment in his remaining eye causing him to lose vision in his remaining eye making it no longer possible to work as a Respiratory Therapist and forced him into early retirement.  After his retirement, Greg continued his education and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Aquinas College with a major in Psychology. He and his wife, Diane, make their home in Lowell and have 3 grown children. One lives in Indiana, one lives in the United Kingdom, and one resides in Lowell.

The First District Governor (1918-1919)

George W. Milligan of Chicago was the first to serve what is now Multiple District 11, but was then part of District 9. With the organizing of ten (10) clubs by the end of 1920, Tony Menke of Detroit was elected District Governor of the entire Lower Peninsula - District 11. Michigan is the only state in the nation to have two (2) multiple district designations... District 10, in the Upper Peninsula and District 11, in the Lower Peninsula. This was necessary because of the unique nature of the state... two peninsulas separated by a strait.  It was a very practical solution to a problem.  Administration of one district would have been very difficult.
