Lions of District 11-C1: Our 11-C1 District Convention is May 15, 2020 and has been combined with the MD11 Convention, May 15-16, 2020 in Holland, MI at the Double Tree Hotel. 1. Why combine conventions? Why would we combine our convention and not have our own event? This will be our own convention, only open to Lions of District 11-C1. 2. Why not have our district convention on a different weekend? A. This will not take away another weekend from your family or other activities. The time would be 3:30pm-6:30 pm. on Friday, May 15. B. It will save the district money by not renting out a facility for the day for 60 Lions, when it is usually the same Lions that attend both events anyway. C. Promotes staying for parts or all of the MD11 Convention, meeting Lions from around the state and learning what they are doing successfully. D. Plus, the MD11 Convention is right in our own district – Holland!!! 3. What will our convention have to offer? A. There will be a business meeting, for district business & voting. DG Paul Hodge will be giving a summary of the district activities and accomplishments of clubs for this past year. The projects will also have an opportunity to present any updates to the district at the business meeting. B. There is also an Awards Dinner. 11-C1 will give out the Rod Prys Spirit Award & the Cutler Leadership Award. C. We will have PID Marvin Chambers and his wife Lynne attend, and PID Chambers will say a few words to our district. **** The dinner will not conflict with the Friday night festivities of MD11 **** 4. Cost? The registration fee is $10 to cover the cost of the food. No addit’l cost. (approx. $10, you have to eat anyway) Heavy appetizers will be served at 2:00 As you can see, the new format for our District Convention is only eliminating a few seminars and saving you all an extra day to spend with family, along with saving the district money. I would hope that you would promote the 11-C1 District Convention to your club and plan to attend. Save the date and there will be more details to follow. Please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions. Lion Cheryl Anderson 11-C1 District Convention Chairperson andersoc@gvsu.edu
